About the Author
Maria Dannessa Delost, PhD, MT(ASCP) is the former Program Director of Medical Laboratory Programs at Youngstown State University, and has been published in Clinical Laboratory Science, the American Journal of Clinical Pathology, and the Journal of theAmerican Academy of Dermatology, among others. She was previously the author of Introduction to Diagnostic Microbiology: A Text and Workbook and the first edition of Introduction to Diagnostic Microbiology for the Laboratory Sciences. She has been a Distinguished Professor in Teaching twice, a Distinguished Professor in Scholarship as well, and has been involved in a broad array of community service and teaching initiatives throughout her career. She has developed curriculain medical laboratory technology andhistotechnology, and has created an online advanced placement medical laboratory science program for medical laboratory technicians. She retired after over 30 years in medical laboratory science education, and is now Professor Emeritus and adjunct faculty at Youngstown State University.
